Phase
I Camp April 4-5, 2009.
The 2009 Unsigned senior camp was a great
success. Players from Pennsylvania, Kansas,
Ohio, Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC
came to test their abilities against the best
of the rest.
TrueAP
(formally Explosive Performance)
conducted a comprehensive testing, putting
each player through several speed and
conditioning tests. Kris Johnson, Director of
TRUE Athlete Performance stated "that the
test provides prospective colleges the
opportunity to evaluate the physical and
mental abilities of the player beyond the basketball court".
The
VA Elite Hoops 2009 Unsigned Senior Camp offered senior players the opportunity to
showcase their abilities and gain national exposure to colleges
and universities across the nation. You may not have heard, but
this April there will be NO LIVE PERIOD, meaning coaches
cannot come to any grassroots events.
Many
of the players stated that "This
camp was unlike any camp they ever attended" the
combination of testing, skills assessment and playing really
extended their abilities. With the objective to find
the best of the remaining unsigned seniors and provide them an
opportunity to be recognized by colleges and universities the camp
format was designed to be intense and see who really could play at
the next level.
TrueAP
a leader in sports speed and agility
training conducted an athletic performance testing that resulted
in 99% accuracy of the players abilities before they played their
first game. The
player test results was calculated as part of the their
overall evaluation.
TrueAP
and Coach/Trainer James Frisby
will conduct Speed/Skills Stations that consisted of
Vertimax (Vertical Jump),
Change of Direction, Agility and Basketball skills evaluation.
Finally,
competitive games! As senior basketball players we expect to find
the best of the rest seniors! Players competed and tested their abilities
and skills against the best players in attendance.
