In 2008, Coach Gadson established Virginia Elite basketball program to provide opportunities for student athletes in the northern Virginia area to be able to compete at a national elite AAU-Grassroots level. The fundamental approach to accomplishing this is to identify, develop and cultivate talented student-athletes to be successful in competitive environment throughout the nation.

Although they have been many successful basketball players from the area the mission of the program is to create a platform for student-athletes to gain national exposure and create a platform to with the opportunity to extend their educational endeavors. 

Virginia Elite competes in national recognized AAU-Grassroots events which  has resulted in more students receiving athletic scholarships than any other boys program in Northern Virginia. We are proud that our college student-athletics have continued to excel academically to one of the highest honor a student can achieve being elected to the elite Phi Beta Kappa honor society (Paul Rowley, College of William and Mary).

Each of those last seasons have produced enormous success while competing in major showcase tournaments across the country. A point of pride since the launch of Virginia Elite many of our student-athletes have excelled academically which has transitioned into the college classroom.

Coach Gadson emphasis the importance of student-athlete by ensuring all players regardless of age or gender has a responsibility to excel in the classroom. The fundamental purpose of the organization is academic first.  

As a college athlete Coach Gadson knows the importance of the complete athlete.  He emphases and teaches more than basketball is the development of the player. Notwithstanding he teaches players fundamental skills and how to execute on the court, but he also spends a lot of time teaching players about the game itself and instills an understanding and knowledge of the game of basketball.

As a former player and as one who has coached at a variety of competitive levels, Coach Gadson recognizes the value of sports in character development and incorporates that understanding in his approach to each team…and each player. He is more than a coach and a teacher. He is a mentor to the young student-athletes he is privileged to coach, and he looks forward with eager anticipation to the success of all Virginia Elite players.
